What to look for when picking your fence contractor
Personally, when I'm looking at a business or contractor. the first thing I'm looking for is years of service to our community. The longer they have a positive impression, means they care about their customers and their image.
As to see a copy of their certificate of insurance. Sometimes its good to have to sent fresh to you with your name on it to make sure its still an active policy.
Always ask what type of fasteners they will be using on your fence. We always use 3 inch coated screws to attach the structural components of the fence finished off with 2 inch ring shanked hot dipped galvanized nails to attach fence boards. This should be the minimum standard.
Ask about payment schedules. My business only takes a deposit upon material hitting your yard and the remaining balance once the project is complete. Proceed with caution if any other arrangments are asked of you.
Timing is crucial. Or fences contain our beloved pets and offer an additional layer of security. When a fence is being repaired or replaced you will be exposed for a period of time. Some contractors will load up on judos and move back and forth working on jobs. you want to make sure once your project has been started, that they will dedicate their working hours, solely to get you completed.
Warranty is an easy one. Make sure you get a written warranty. The longer the better and a company that has been around longer potentially have better building practices and care about maintaining customer replationships.
